I appreciate that not all the functions may be available in the trial/demo versions therefore it might not convince the user that the software is a worthwhile purchase. You should use these to judge if you like the software or not.
That is why the developers release trial and demo software. Insofar as testing the software before you buy it is concerned I think this should go without saying. There are some however who after dl'g warez do go out and buy the original, pyr for instance.
Ppl tend to download the whole game and are therefore not forced into buying the full retail version. I do not believe that warez sites are an issue here. very very rarely will you ever see anyone be charged unless they are selling the programs and are living in a country with laws against piracy. As for warez sites, generally all that happens is their ISP shuts them down and that is the end of it. If I had tried a warez copy I would have known it was not yet finished (still isnt since they abandoned it to work on UT). (nor did they add OGL support which they promised within a month of release) I will never ever ever buy another Epic game again because of that fiasco (and I will never use a warez copy of anything they ever make ever again).
I bought Unreal the week it came out, and suffered for over a year as they did not patch the bugs that were rampant in that game. I played a warez copy of Halflife before there were any reviews out and I loved it and so I bought a copy. I always buy a program I use and that works as it is supposed to. They are usually a lot of money (relatively speaking since I am a student), and I want to make sure that a program will do what I want it to do before I pay. I would not buy a car without test driving it first, same with software. Why? Because I have bought and been really screwed too many times before. I have used warez programs and games before.
